Recipe Ingredients:
- 6 egg whites
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp distilled white vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup M&M’S Milk Chocolate (Easter colors), divided
- 3/4 cup 35% whipping cream
Directions:
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes (+ 1 hour cooling time)
- Preheat oven to 250°F. Trace 12 circles, 1 1/2 inches in diameter, onto parchment paper, spacing about 2 inches apart; trace smaller circle, 1/2 inch in diameter, in center of each larger circle. Place on large baking sheet, traced-side down.
- Using electric mixer, beat egg whites on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Slowly beat in 1 1/2 cups sugar until stiff peaks form. Beat in cornstarch, vinegar and vanilla. Coarsely chop 1/2 cup M&M’S; fold gently into mixture.
- Transfer mixture to large piping bag fitted with large round tip. Pipe peaked mounds onto prepared parchment paper using traced rings as a guide, forming wreaths about 1-inch high with hollow centers.
- Top each mound with an M&M’S. Bake for about 1 hour or until wreaths lift off easily from parchment paper. Turn off heat; let stand in oven for about 1 hour or until completely cooled and dry.
- Whip cream with remaining sugar to soft peaks; dollop into center of each wreath. Decorate with remaining M&M’S.
Tips:
- Add pastel food coloring to meringue mixture before baking to create Easter-colored wreaths.
- Place a dollop of prepared lemon curd underneath the whipped cream for a fresh and elegant spring dessert.
